Waiting for Shadowkeep: Raid Exotics

Updated: Aug 10, 2019

So you've completed your Solstice of Heroes armor set or finally got that title you were chasing and now you're wondering what to do while you wait for Shadowkeep to drop? Why not finish off your collection of spaceguns with those coveted raid Exotics? (Looking at you, One Thousand Voices.)

There's currently only 4 raid Exotics in the game, and some of them require a bit more work to get, while others will have you running raid after raid hoping to finally get that one drop you've been waiting for for so long. So let's get started.

Legend of Acrius

Leviathan Raid

"In the Cabal legend, a hero seeks to possess the sun. He succeeds. Then, he becomes Emperor. The Cabal... are not a subtle people." — Tyra Karn

When talking about raid Exotics in Destiny 2, we might as well start with the first one introduced to the game. The almighty Legend of Acrius. This heavy Arc Shotgun shoots massive bursts of Arc damage that will vaporize anything it comes into contact with. It's also the only Shotgun besides Tractor Cannon that goes into your power weapon slot so make sure you have an adequate amount of power ammo on hand. Acquiring this weapon actually involves doing some work outside of playing the raid. So let's have a look at the questline.

Step 1: On the Comms

If you've been playing Destiny 2 for a while now chances are you've gotten this already just by playing. If you haven't, all you need to do is kill Cabal enemies on any destination in any activity and you'll get the quest.

Once you found it, your objective will be to return to Nessus and recover Communication Ciphers from Red Legion Troops. Just keep shooting some Cabal and eventually you'll have enough to get to the next part of the quest.

Step 2: Destroyer of Worlds

Originally this step was called "Await the World Eater" and it had you wait for the Leviathan to arrive, but since the Leviathan raid has been live for quite a while now it now skips that part of the quest. All you need to do to finish this step is board the Leviathan and finish the Leviathan raid. So grab your raid buddies and take part in the challenges Emperor Calus has prepared for you and your Fireteam.

Step 3: Imperial Invitation

After you've beaten Calus you'll need to head back to the Tower and speak to everyone's favorite sweeper bot: Benedict 99-40. He used to be in the Bazaar near Executor Hideo, the New Monarchy faction vendor, but he has since been moved to the Annex in the newly added part of the Tower. He'll give you a special quest called "End the Arms Dealer", which requires you to do an alternate version of the Arms Dealer Strike. To access this one you'll need to select it from the Director. It'll be located somewhere near Legion's Anchor in the EDZ. You'll need to finish this Strike within 15 minutes, but don't worry as there will be Anomalies - which basically look like the Oracles from Vault of Glass in Destiny 1, but blue - that spawn which you can shoot to give you an additional 30 seconds. Your character will also be buffed as long as there's an Anomaly in the area, so keep that in mind when you're running through the strike.

Step 4: Cabal Killer

You now have the Legend of Acrius! ... But you're not done yet because for now you only possess the unupgraded version of this Cabal bad boy, so that's where the next part comes in. After completing the special Arms Dealer Strike, you'll get another quest which asks you to return to the Tower and have another chat with Benedict. That's where you'll get a quest step called "Cabal Killer".

To complete this you'll need to do the following things:

  • Kill 25 Cabal

  • Kill 15 Cabal at close range

  • Kill multiple Cabal without reloading, 10 times

Since the weapon only has 1 in the chamber, you'll have to make sure to kill 2 or more Cabal with one shot. Fortunately, this isn't too hard as it has a pretty massive damage cone. This step can be easily completed by going into the Leviathan on your own, and killing the Cabal in the Castellum.

Step 5: His Highness's Seal

For the final step you'll have to complete "His Higness's Seal" which requires you to collect Emperor Seals from completing encounters in the Leviathan raid. This should take you about 2 runs of the raid to complete, and once you're done you'll have the fully functional and upgraded version of the Legend of Acrius Exotic Shotgun!

Step 6: Prestige

Even though you have the finished weapon now, you'll get another quest step for which you'll have to complete a Prestige run of the Leviathan raid. This final step will award you with The Emperor's Pleasure Exotic Ornament for the weapon. Prestige mode is also where you'll be able to get the Exotic Catalyst, but that's a topic for another time!

The Emperor's Pleasure

One Thousand Voices

Last Wish Raid

I can be anyone you wish, o murderer mine.

Next up on the list is the ever-so-infamous One Thousand Voices. It's a Solar Linear Fusion Rifle that sits pretty in your power weapon slot and its main perk Ahamkara's Eye makes it fire a "continuous beam of death". Another one of its perks, called Unforeseen Repercussions, superheats its target upon impact and causes delayed explosions. To get this weapon you just need to complete the Last Wish raid and hope you get lucky with the final chest (or chests if you have an Ethereal Key)! That's all there is to it. As of right now there's no Catalyst for it yet, but we'll update the article if that ever changes. And as for the Exotic Ornament - called One Terrible Scream - it's unfortunately no longer available right now as it was exclusive to Season of the Forge during Black Armory. But who knows, it might be available again in the future.

One Terrible Scream

Scourge of the Past Raid

"Stick to wall, ground, human… then FFFFFRRRRRYYYYY! Hehehehehehehe." — Siviks, Lost to None

Anarchy is an Arc Grenade Launcher of Fallen origin that - thanks to its rather self-explanatory main perk Arc Traps - fires sticky grenades that chain Arc bolts between eachother. Any target that hits one of those connections will take a fair amount of damage over time so it's no surprise that this weapon in combination with Mountaintop has made its way to the top of the current raid Boss DPS meta, followed by even more Grenade Launchers. As with previous raid Exotics it also sits in your power weapon slot. To obtain this weapon you have to complete the Scourge of the Past raid, and hope you are lucky enough to get it to drop when opening the final chest. Unfortunately there is no Exotic Ornament or Catalyst available yet but we might see one in Season of the Undying (or beyond).

Crown of Sorrow Raid

We walk where our ancestors once walked.

The Tarrabah is the latest addition to the family of raid Exotics and is also the first one that isn't a power weapon. It's a Solar SMG that sits in your energy weapon slot and its perk Ravenous Beast stores power in the weapon when dealing or receiving damage with it. You can see how much you've stored on the side of the weapon as it will be starting to glow. This power can then subsequently be released by holding down your reload button which massively increases the weapons rate of fire, damage, and its reload speed, turning it into a little death machine. Another one of its perks, called Bottomless Appetite extends the duration of Ravenous Beast if you do continuous damage with it, allowing you to keep using the perk as long as you're doing damage with it. The only way you're getting your hands on this little beast is by completing the Crown of Sorrows raid and by getting lucky with the final chest. The Exotic Ornament for Tarrabah is called Voracious, and can be acquired from the Eververse store for 700 Silver. There is no Catalyst available as of now.

Those are all the raid-exclusive Exotic weapons currently in Destiny 2! Good luck and may RNGesus bless you with shiny loot! Cheers, Wulpul
